For trucking
E-Signature for Trucking
For owner-operators and small fleets. Sign the rate confirmation at the truck stop, onboard a new driver without a trip to the office, and keep a clear record of who signed what and when.
Documents you can send
Paperwork that shouldn't wait for a fax machine.
Brokers send PDFs, shippers hand you paper. Both work: upload the PDF or snap a photo.
- Rate confirmations, signed and returned from your phone.
- BOL and delivery acknowledgements, from a photo of the paper BOL when you need a signed copy back.
- Driver onboarding documents, like applications, policy acknowledgements and drug and alcohol policy receipts.
- Lease agreements, between an owner-operator and a carrier.
- Independent contractor agreements, for drivers you don't employ.
- Equipment bills of sale, when you buy or sell a truck or trailer.
How it works
Three taps, parked.
Open the broker's PDF from your email, or take a photo of the paper. Mark where you or the other party signs.
Sign it yourself and download it, or send it by text, WhatsApp or email to the driver, broker or carrier.
You get the signed copy with a certificate showing the date, time and device of each signature.
Why MultiDocs
Made for a phone in the cab.
Drivers and brokers open a link and sign with a finger or a mouse. Nothing to download, no password to remember.
Send the link by text message, WhatsApp or email, or copy it and paste it anywhere. Email reminders go out every two days, up to three times.
Send a new policy or a safety acknowledgement to every driver at once, each with their own copy: up to 20 on the free plan, up to 500 on Team.
The last page records the date and time, where the link was sent, IP address, device, a unique signer code and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. Anyone can check it at /verify.
Good to know
Sign parked. And check the hazmat rule.
Only sign when you are parked. Federal rules ban texting and hand-held phone use by drivers of commercial motor vehicles while driving (49 CFR § 392.80 and § 392.82). A signature can wait for the next stop.
FMCSA rules allow many required records to be kept and signed electronically (49 CFR § 390.32). One exception under the ESIGN Act: documents required to accompany the transportation of hazardous materials (15 U.S.C. § 7003(b)(3)). Keep hazmat shipping papers the way the regulations require.
MultiDocs is not an ELD, a TMS or a load board, and it doesn't connect to them. It does one thing: gets documents signed with a clear record.
For owner-operators and drivers.
For trucks and trailers.
Step by step on your phone.
No app needed.
Questions
Trucking e-signature questions.
Can I sign a rate confirmation on my phone?
Yes. Open the broker's PDF, upload it to MultiDocs, sign with your finger and download it or email it back. Free, no account, and if only you sign, the file never leaves your phone.
Is an e-signed rate con valid?
Generally, yes. Under the ESIGN Act and state UETA laws, a contract can't be denied legal effect just because it is signed electronically.
Can new drivers sign onboarding documents remotely?
Yes. Send them by text or email. They sign on their phone, and you can ask them to attach a photo of a document, like their license, with an "ask for a document" field. MultiDocs doesn't verify it: you still review it.
Does it work with weak signal at a truck stop?
It runs in the phone browser and the pages are light, so it works on a normal mobile connection. You need a connection to send and receive.
Does MultiDocs connect to my TMS or ELD?
No. There are no integrations or API. You download the signed PDF and store it where you keep your files.
How much does it cost a small fleet?
The free plan includes 15 signature requests a month. The Team plan is $25 a month for everyone in your fleet office, with up to 1,000 requests.
