Verify a signed document

Upload a PDF signed with MultiDocs and we'll tell you in seconds whether it's the original or whether it was changed after it was signed.

How it works

When a document is signed with MultiDocs (including with the free tool), we store its digital fingerprint: a SHA-256 code that changes completely if a single letter, signature or pixel changes. When you choose the PDF, your browser calculates its fingerprint and compares it with the one we stored. The document itself is never uploaded.

  • It matches: the document is exactly the one that was signed.
  • It doesn't match: it wasn't signed with MultiDocs, or it was changed or saved again after signing (for example, printed to PDF or edited in another app).

What else to check

The last page of every MultiDocs document is a certificate of completion. It lists, for each signer, the email or phone number the signing link was sent to, the date and time, the IP address, device and browser, and a unique signer code (MD-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX). The SHA-256 fingerprint printed there should match the result above.

Who uses this page

Anyone who receives a signed document and wants to be sure it's genuine: a client, a landlord, an HR team, an auditor or a court. You don't need an account, and it's free.

Fingerprints are kept for 5 years from signing. The signed documents themselves are deleted 30 days after completion, so keep your copy. More about how we protect documents on our security page and in the privacy policy. Want to sign or send a document? Sign a PDF for free.
