Free Electronic Signature: 15 Signature Requests a Month, Free Forever

Most “free” e-signature tools are a trial, or a plan that runs out after two or three documents. MultiDocs is free for real: sign your own documents as often as you like, and send 15 documents a month for other people to sign. No credit card, no trial clock, no watermark. Your signers never need an account.

  3. Add fields: your signature, or tap “Mark where they sign” for each signer.
  4. Finish or send: download your signed PDF, or send the link by email, text or WhatsApp.
  5. Get it back signed: one email at the end with the signed PDF and its certificate.

To be fair: the paid tools above do things we don't. DocuSign and Adobe have APIs, integrations with Salesforce and Google Drive, identity verification and enterprise admin. If you need those, they're worth paying for. If you need to get documents signed, simply and often, the free plan here goes further.

Yes. The law doesn't care what you paid. Under the federal ESIGN Act, a signature or contract “may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforceability solely because it is in electronic form” (15 U.S.C. § 7001(a)), and every state has a matching rule through the UETA or, in New York, its own law. What matters is proof of who signed, and the free plan includes the full audit trail: the email or phone the link was sent to, IP address, device, date and time, a unique signer code and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the document, verifiable at /verify. More in are electronic signatures legally binding?

What's the catch?

There isn't a hidden one. Signing your own documents costs us almost nothing because it happens in your browser. Teams that send more than 15 requests a month pay for the Team plan: $25 a month, or $240 a year, for the whole team, not per user, with up to 1,000 requests a month and bulk send to 500. That's how we make money. See pricing.

What we don't have, on any plan: an API, integrations, a native mobile app (it runs in the browser), KBA identity verification, notarization, payment collection, SOC 2 or HIPAA. Documents are deleted 30 days after completion, so download what you want to keep.

FAQs

Is there a completely free electronic signature?

Yes. With MultiDocs, signing your own documents is free and unlimited, and you can send 15 signature requests a month free, with no trial period and no credit card.

Do my signers need to pay or create an account?

No. Signers open the link and sign with a finger or mouse. They never need an account, on any plan.

Is there a watermark on free signed documents?

No. Free documents have no watermark. They carry a certificate of completion on the last page, which is your proof of signature.

What happens if I need more than 15 requests a month?

You can wait for next month, or switch to the Team plan: $25 a month for the whole team with up to 1,000 requests. You can cancel any time and go back to the free plan.

Can I sign electronically for free on my phone?

Yes. It runs in Safari or Chrome. Upload a PDF or a photo, sign with your finger and download.

Is DocuSign free?

DocuSign doesn't have a free plan for sending documents, only a 30-day trial. Signing a document someone sent you through DocuSign is free.

Is a free online signature legally binding?

Yes. Legal validity doesn't depend on price. Under ESIGN and UETA, electronic signatures are binding for nearly all private documents.
